That is what I typed into google this morning. My husband is Catholic so can I be a Catholic In-Law? For those of you who are not aware, St. Anthony is the saint of lost things or lost souls. I would also like to add a disclaimer here that I am not an expert nor do I want this to come across like I am. I am just someone with internet access.
Lost souls is what jumped out to me. Am I lost? Is that the fundamental reason why I do not know what the f I am doing? Being lost implies that you have to be found at some point right?
Come to think of it, lost is a beautiful way to describe it. Being lost gives you zero blame, judgement and responsibility. Like a pair of shoes that my toddler has hidden from me. It is not the shoes fault that they are lost.. Though that does sound like enabling..
I do think words are chosen intentionally. Lost things or lost souls. How do you think St. Anthony got that job? Was he innately impeccable at finding things or was he lucky? Was his gift of guiding the lost something he always knew he could do or did he discover it later in life? Time to google..
*A few moments later*
Wow. Faith has a funny way of reminding you how faith works. St. Anthony had this irreplaceable book of teaching that was stolen by someone who lost their way. That student felt LOST and took the book as they left to start a new life..
Um thoughts. Why did the person leaving the thing they no longer wanted to be a part of take a book about the thing they no longer wanted to be apart of.
St. Anthony prayed that he would find the lost book. The person who stole it had bad vibes and brought it back. Thus originated St. Anthony.
If you are lost, is it your fault? If you are physically lost, could there be some blame? Didn’t look at a map or didn’t charge your phone or didn’t plan ahead? But there are always things outside your control that contributes to the lost-ness. Not a word yeah whatever.
It seems like many religions and practices have a solution for being lost. Prayer, manifestation, spells, affirmations, envisioning, intention setting.. faith.. It seems like faith might be the cure for being lost.. maybe? I will report back with my findings.
Thanks,
Emmathy
